ON THE MOVE!

Jesus Center will be meeting at Torrance High School from April 6th.

Questions and Responses

1. Does Jesus Center still have the Torrance Prayer Room?
Yes, we are on a long term lease at the Torrance Prayer Room. It is still our main place for prayer, youth, mens, women’s, events, classes, etc.

2. Did Jesus Center have a negative experience at Temple Menorah?
Temple Menorah has been only amazing to work with. It was a great partnership and even a friendship has developed. We are so grateful to Temple Menorah and are praying for them.

We are so grateful to have been able to stand with the Jewish Community during a very difficult time, they felt our love and support. They also heard the gospel preached and felt the presence of the Holy Spirit.

3. Why is Jesus Center moving after only a year?
Towards the end of January 2025, Temple Menorah asked us if we could find another venue for March 16, as they were preparing for their Purim Festival. We found Torrance High School to be open.  Saddleback South Bay had just left and recognizing that our lease is ending all at the same time, got our attention.

We began a process of prayer and fasting, doing research, meeting with previous church tenants, etc. We also felt it was wise to do a test run, which we did on February 16th, and the congregation was very much in favor of the new venue and we felt the pleasure of the Lord in us being there.

We are a Spirit-led church and we believe we are digging or re-digging spiritual wells, wherever we meet.

4. What were some of the reasons why Jesus Center decided not to renew the lease at Temple Menorah and pursue Torrance High?

Location:
The Torrance High location is not just well-known and iconic, but it is more central to our target area, with much easier freeway access. Closer to the cities that most of our congregation has historically come from: Torrance, Harbor City, Lomita, San Pedro, Carson, Gardena, Hawthorne, and those who take the freeways from West LA, the San Gabriel Valley, and Orange County.

Worship Experience:
The main auditorium has premiere lighting, quality sound, and dynamic user-friendly projection. It will allow for less distractions.

Reaching the Youth:
We will have the opportunity to minister to High School students through weekly outreaches that is already in happening at Torrance High, Narbonne High, and Carson High.

Approachability:
We want to remove all barriers that may keep people from visiting. Having a very neutral location with an abundance of parking will serve this purpose.

City of Torrance:
Torrance is on God’s heart to be an exemplary city in the South Bay.

Other Churches:
Lighthouse Church, Journey of Faith and Saddleback Church are all very strategic and successful churches — who chose Torrance High as their landing spot.

Expandability:
Upon the event of a great move of God, a mass harvest of souls, or steady growth from easier accessibility, there is great capacity to contain the growth, with 940 seats in the auditorium to more and more classrooms we can rent.

Kids Ministry:
The ability to continue to rent more spaces for the children is appealing. There is also much room to run around in the grass areas and emulate a “recess time” at school. There are other spaces like gyms that we can also utilize. Although there is a walk to the kids classroom, many of the larger churches have a walk from kids ministry spaces to main auditorium. The school is giving us three warm and excellent classrooms that are on the first floor, straight shot from the auditorium.

Condition:
Although Torrance High School is a much older building, multiple renovations have been done. The auditorium was recently redone in the last six years.

Flexibility:
Our time at Torrance High will not include a long-term lease, giving us the freedom to pursue or purchase a building of our own when the time comes.
